Cinema 4D Script: Select_Lathe

■ About "Select_Lathe"

"Select_Lathe" is a utility script for Cinema 4D that automatically finds and selects all Lathe Objects, which are used to generate radial symmetrical shapes.

■ Main Features

● Selects all Lathe Objects

The script scans the entire scene—including nested hierarchies—for objects of type c4d.Olathe, and sets them to the selected state.

● Clears previous selection

Before selecting, all previously selected objects are deselected so that only Lathe Objects remain selected.

■ Installation

Go to Extensions > Scripts > User Scripts > Open Script Folder,

then copy the two files from the Select_Lathe folder into that location.

■ How to Use

Run Select_Lathe from Scripts > User Scripts.

All Lathe Objects in the scene will be selected.

■ How to Add to a Palette

Go to Window > Customization > Customize Commands

Type Select_Lathe into the Name Filter in the Command Manager

Drag and drop the script into a desired palette

Close the Customize Commands window

Go to Window > Customization > Save as Startup Layout

■ Notes

This script targets only Lathe Objects (c4d.Olathe). It does not include other generators like Extrude, Sweep, or Loft.

It performs a full recursive scan through the hierarchy to ensure all Lathe Objects are selected.

■ Remarks

Lathe Objects are commonly used for creating symmetrical shapes such as bottles and cups. However, as scenes grow more complex, it becomes difficult to manage these objects manually.

With "Select_Lathe", you can quickly extract and select only Lathe Objects, greatly enhancing workflow efficiency.

This is also useful for checking "Create Single Object" settings in versions prior to R21, or for applying batch modifications.
